CARAVANTASIA

SUMMER 2017 AT CARAVANTASIA

Caravantasia, the brainchild of Tom and Heather Pollard, is a ‘glamping’ site located near Killenaule in South Tipperary and close to the heritage towns of Cashel and Kilkenny. Glamping is the name given to the new trend of ‘glamorous camping’, where people swap the mud and hardship of traditional camping for something a little more comfortable.

Located on the couple’s 23 acre family farm in South Tipperary, Caravantasia has 6 vintage caravans from the 60s and 70s that have either been restored to their original glory or updated in their own individual quirky style. The caravans sleep between two and four people. Each caravan is nestled amongst the trees has its own outside decking area with seating so guests can enjoy a barbeque in the peaceful surroundings, with just the noise of the birds in the background. For 2017 a large bell tent has been added, to sleep 6 people.

The entire site is off-grid, and where power or hot water is needed, it’s generated by solar energy. There are toilets, dressing rooms and proper hot showers on site.

There’s a small kitchen too, but most visitors use ‘Maggie’s Kitchen’. It’s an outdoor area with both a hot-plate and a traditional barbeque, all in the style of a traditional Irish cottage, complete with a working fireplace!

The "Green House" is the site’s central building and is a unique little wooden building on stilts that is used as the central point for meetings, workshops, talks and for socialising.

Central to the site is a fairy fort, a type of ancient Irish dwelling or enclosure that has been long associated with the fairy folk. We can’t guarantee an audience with the fairies, but it’s a lovely peaceful spot in the middle of the farm and is home to badgers, foxes, rabbits and a multitude of birds.

If you like the peace and quiet, but fancy something a little different, Caravantasia could be the place for you!
