RECIPES FOR JUNE

June is a great time for green vegetables, such as courgettes, spinach and rocket. We’re also in season for the lovely Wexford strawberries. Wexford is famous for its strawberries.  They seem to be sweeter and more delicious and they say it’s because it’s the Sunny South East. As close as Ireland can possibly get to the Mediterranean!

JUNE IRISH JOKES

So, we’re doing a call out for some jokes and we’ll include the best ones in the Celtic Times. Elaine loves a good joke so we have to send all the jokes on to Elaine 1st, as she knows all the best jokes herself!

So, keep them clean and send on to fanclubmembership@celticthunder.com

"O'Ryan," asked the druggist, "did that mudpack I gave you improve your wife's appearance?"

"It did surely," replied O'Ryan,"but it keeps fallin' off!"

14 HENRIETTA STREET TO OPEN

A home to Dublin’s social history, 14 Henrietta Street will officially open to the public in September. It tells the story of tenement life in Dublin, and its origins, through the life-cycle of what was once a home to the elite of the city. Visiting the house opens a door to nearly 300 years of the city’s life, from a grand townhouse of the 1750s to a tenement building from the 1880s to the 1970s, which, in 1911, was home to 17 families.

BRIAN LEYDEN – ‘THE HOME PLACE’

I first met Brian Leyden in 2008 when I was involved with a show called “The Good Room”. It was based on the concept that every house in Ireland had a “good room” where important people were invited in to have a cup of tea but unless you were special, the room was never used! It was kept for special occasions.
